3.4.1 Fire Prevention

Industrial buildings belong to pipeline-intensive areas with large equipment power supply load and plant area. In order to avoid the occurrence of major accidents caused by fire, according to the requirements of national standards, it is recommended in the GB31247-2014 "Classification of Combustion Performance of Cables and Optical Cables" not to judge the safety characteristics of cables by material name, and to classify the combustion performance of cables and optical cables into Grade A: non-combustible cables (optical cables);B1: flame retardant Class 1 cables (optical cables);B2: flame retardant Class 2 cables (optical cables); class B3: Ordinary cable (optical cable). The flame-retardant/low-smoke and non-halogen twisted pair cables and optical cables recommended by the state can be considered for the project.


3.4.2 Heat Dissipation

When Wifi, indoor cameras (including PTZ), etc. use POE for power supply, if the power supply current is large, the pair of transmission pairs will heat up the bundled twisted cables due to heat, resulting in a decrease in transmission distance or a fire. The following measures are recommended:

The use of metal bridge and metal conduit cable laying, can use the metal shell to help heat dissipation.

· The use of shielded pair cable, the use of shielding metal body to help heat dissipation and improve the impact on the transmission distance.

When the cable is laid on the bridge, the twisted cable should adopt the non-binding threading process (one-step threading process) to make the twisted cable in the bridge in a scattered state to improve the anti-electromagnetic interference ability and heat dissipation effect.

3.4.3 Lightning protection

Outdoor transmission cables may be located in the lightning strike area. In order to prevent lightning damage to equipment and personnel, it is recommended to use outdoor optical cables without metal components to connect and convert them into electrical signals in the area with lightning protection to form electromagnetic islands.
